Our Programs

CONDOM PROGRAMING

This is a Condom distribution programmes based in the workplace to give employees easy access to male and female condoms for free or at low cost using the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). BBCA orders Condoms from the Central Medical Stores, then companies order and collect from BBCA Head office using their supply chain logistics including transport to make sure condoms are always available in their work place. Successful approaches include placing condom vending machines in workplace bathrooms and workplace peer educators distribute condoms in their respective workplace time and again. We are currently servicing over 300 companies with an estimate of 25 to 30 companies collecting condoms in a month

GABORONE TAXI ASSOCIATION CONDOM PROJECT

Since realising that the transport sector was underutilised in the fight against HIV/AIDS, BBCA adopted the ‘Condoms In a Taxi’ initiative because they transport workers to, and from work on a day to day basis. As a cost-effective structural intervention BBCA partnered with Gaborone Taxi Association (as a starting point) for the distribution, to Increase access to condom and  messages by workers and the general population in an effort to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STIs. Up to date the demand of condoms from private sector is growing on daily basis and we are able to distribute up to 70 000 condom pieces to taxis in a month.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS TRAINING

BBCA conducts a Peer Education training workshops on health and wellness including Covid-19, HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and other Non-Communicable Diseases to different companies. Selected employees from their various work stations in Botswana are taken for a minimum of three days training depending on the level ( either level 1, 2, or 3) and intensity of their training. These health and wellness trainings are twice as important as they improve employee health behaviors, reduce elevated health risks, reduce health care costs, improve productivity, can decrease absenteeism, can help improve employee recruitment and retention, as well as build and help sustain high employee morale. All those being trained are given training modules and at the end of the training, and at the end of the training they are certified.
